Don’t Miss the Green Living Expo, EcoSummit in December!

Throughout the year, Brilliant Harvest is on the lookout for events related to renewable energy and sustainability to support. We are thrilled to be a sponsor of/exhibitor at the Science and Environment Council’s upcoming Green Living Expo, which takes place on December 2-3 at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium.
We also encourage you to consider attending the EcoSummit on December 5-6 (with a free kickoff event the evening of December 4), from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Find tickets HERE (and more information about the event highlights later in this blog).
The Green Living Expo offers an opportunity to connect with Suncoast residents who are ready to take the next step to go green and a selection of businesses that can help them accomplish just that. Exhibitors will offer green solutions in the areas of Energy (save energy, go solar), Waste (reduce, reuse, recycle), Water (save water, stop pollution), Food (eat local, reduce waste) and Nature (explore, protect). You can check the running list of exhibitors HERE.
We’ll be at the Expo to talk solar PV design and installation, the Tesla Powerwall home battery/energy storage, and the electrical side of the Tesla Solar Roof (we are proud collaborators with Roofing by Curry – another exhibitor you’ll see at the Expo – on installations of this product. Learn more HERE.)
During the event, you’ll have the chance to demo (and purchase) sustainable products and services from green businesses – like ours – and nonprofit organizations. You can also find opportunities to get involved and get hands-on with opportunities to volunteer and help solve local environmental problems. The overall goal is to encourage our community and beyond to make small – or large – changes so that we can all be a part of the forward-thinking solutions that will reduce our impact on the environment.
Tickets to the Expo are FREE with advance registration; cost is $5/door per group (up to five people).
The EcoSummit will kick off with a free, family-friendly movie screening of “2040” at The Bay Park Nest with the film’s creator, award-winning Australian documentary filmmaker and EcoSummit keynote speaker Damon Gameau. The EcoSummit will feature lively, solutions-oriented lectures, panel discussions, storytelling, and music. Dozens of national, regional, and local experts will share fascinating insights and future-forward innovations for recharging our environment and reducing our impacts – crucial to sustaining our coastal community’s environment-based quality of life.
On December 5, 7-9 p.m., enjoy an unforgettable evening of “Florida Stories” with Carl Hiaasen and Craig Pittman, Florida’s most savagely funny, riotous, and cathartic storytellers (and award-winning investigative journalists), joined by local storyteller and dolphin expert Dr. Randy Wells and award-winning Americana songwriter Karen Jonas and her band. Standalone tickets are available for this event.
Tickets for the EcoSummit are $155/standard, $185 premium (includes “Florida Stories” general admission), $285/VIP (includes “Florida Stories” VIP reception and premium seating). From November 1-7, the Science and Environment Council is running a flash sale for EcoSummit tickets: enjoy 50% off if you purchase between those dates.
For more than two decades, the Science and Environment Council (SEC) – a not-for-profit consortium of the 40 leading science-based environmental nonprofit and government organization in Sarasota and Manatee counties – has convened discussions, informed policy, and enhanced public awareness about science-based conservation and sustainable practices to protect and restore our natural environment. Check out their Green Living Toolkit HERE.
We hope to see you at the Green Living Expo and EcoSummit in December!
