A Tesla Powerwall installation at a client’s home

If the coronavirus pandemic has shown us anything, it’s the benefits of ensuring that your home is safe and comfortable. The silver lining to the stay-at-home order has been that it has provided people with the time and motivation to take on a variety of home improvement projects. But our current situation has also made us realize the importance of making sure that our home’s most essential systems – such as power or water – are reliable, and forced us to consider what we might do if those systems were at risk.

When it comes to energy security, there is nothing like a solar + home battery system to ensure that – regardless of the time of day, the weather or the status of the power grid – your home will have a steady supply of electricity. With the double-whammy of the pandemic creating uncertainty about when we might be able to return to normal activities outside of the home, and the 2020 hurricane season fast approaching, protecting your power supply becomes exponentially more important.

The Tesla Powerwall 2.0

When you install the Tesla Powerwall home battery along with a solar photovoltaic system, or if you add it to an existing system, you will be able to enjoy secure, reliable, renewable energy even after the sun goes down or during a power outage. Tesla’s Powerwall 2.0 stores 14 kWh of energy; up to 10 Powerwalls can be chained together for additional energy storage. It provides flexibility by giving customers the option to mount it on the wall or on the ground, indoors or outdoors. A built-in inverter also allows for better integration and delivers a more compact design with greater overall aesthetics. Powerwall can be controlled through the Tesla app, which enables you to monitor your energy usage in real-time, alerts you to savings opportunities (if your utility offers a time-of-use rate plan), and notifies you when Powerwall is preparing for cloudy or severe weather.

If your power does go out, due to weather or an issue with the grid, you won’t have to worry about firing up a noisy generator that produces greenhouse gasses. A home battery offers the benefit of being clean and nearly silent.

Brilliant Harvest is proud to be an official Tesla Energy Certified Installer. We have successfully installed dozens of Powerwalls throughout the region, for clients who have needs that require a back-up system to others who are operating nearly off the grid.

Whether you are seeking back-up power, time-based control, off-grid capabilities, or simply want the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ll have electricity to power the systems you need when you really need them, we encourage you to consider including the Powerwall in your solar project, or adding it to your existing array.
